Associate Senior University Lecturer in Ecological-Economic Modelling
Lund University, Faculty of Science, Centre for Environmental and Climate Research
The Centre for Environmental and Climate Research (CEC, http://www.cec.lu.se/) is seeking to recruit an Associate Senior University Lecturer in Ecological-Economic Modelling with a focus on ecosystem services. CEC has successfully developed integrated ecological-economic modelling, where economic and ecological models are combined to predict consequences of management and policy decisions on ecosystems. This development has resulted in multiple external grants and commissioned work, resulting in a need to further strengthen the modelling team at CEC. The appointee will be expected to play a key role in CEC’s modelling team, leading the development and use of ecological-economic models, in collaboration with researchers at CEC and within the Strategic Research Area Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in a Changing Climate (BECC http://www.becc.lu.se/), responsible for spatial models for land use, biodiversity and indicators of ecosystem services.
Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top 100 universities. The University has 42 000 students and 7 400 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.
The Faculty of Science conducts research and education within Biology, Astronomy, Physics, Geosciences, Chemistry, Mathematics and Environmental Sciences. The Faculty is organized into ten departments, gathered in the northern campus area. The Faculty has approximately 1900 students, 330 PhD students and 700 employees.

The successful candidate is expected to play a key role in building up active research within the specified field and neighbouring research areas. This also involves applying for external funding and developing cooperation with other university units and other governmental organisations, involved in this type of research. The proportion between teaching and research can change over time and other duties can be included.
The appointed Associate Senior University Lecturer will use integrated ecological-economic modelling as a tool to evaluate the consequences of alternative management regimes and policies on the interaction between economic activity and ecological processes. In particular, the appointee will be expected to provide research leadership in analysing the linkages between land use inagriculture and forestry, biodiversity, ecosystem services and production of food and fibre in a changing and uncertain world. The research will focus on processes at multiple spatial scales (local, national, EU) and varying time horizons (years – decades), considering risk and uncertainty.
The teaching comprises courses on all levels within the field, as well as supervision of Bachelor, Master and PhD students. The successful candidate is expected to play a key role in building up active research, involving applying for external funding. The appointee will be expected to develop collaboration with different research groups at Lund university, not the least within the strategic research area BECC. The Associate Senior University Lecturer will also be active in outreach and stakeholder dialogue, developing contacts and collaboration within relevant organisations within the green sector, including authorities.
