Joan Martinez-Alier Interview

Balzan Prize

A few days ago Joan Martinez-Alier won the Balzan Prize, one of the most prestigious prizes in Europe, among other things by his contribution to the foundation of ecological economics and the promotion of environmental justice.

Roldan Muradian and Sergio Villamayor, who are editing a book about the Barcelona School of Ecological Economics and Political Ecology (that Joan contributed to establishing), interviewed him. They talk about the history of ideas that preceded the foundation of ecological economics, ecological distribution conflicts, Joan’s long academic trajectory, and other interesting topics.
