Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor (tenure track) in both the Asian School of the Environment (ASE) and the School of Social Sciences (SSS) in the area of Environment and Society, particularly those specialising in sustainability or environmental policy, regulation, law or economics.

ASE is an interdisciplinary school at NTU that uses Earth and environmental science, engineering, technology and the social sciences to address Earth’s key environmental challenges. Many ASE researchers work closely with the Earth Observatory of SingaporeSSS is home to research and education in the social sciences. SSS offers four subject majors at the undergraduate level; Economics, Psychology, Public Policy and Global Affairs, and Sociology. Environment and sustainability is one of SSS’ key research clusters.

ASE and SSS seek a diverse and inclusive workforce and are committed to equality of opportunity. We welcome applications from all and recruit on the basis of merit, regardless of age, race, gender, religion, marital status and family responsibilities, or disability.

The successful candidate should demonstrate the potential to build a world-class research programme and a commitment to education and mentorship of students, and to meaningfully contribute to our ambitions to have societal and environmental impact in Singapore and the surrounding region. The successful candidate will be encouraged to collaborate with existing research groups across NTU, Singapore, and the region, and supported in building those links in environment and society. One of the mandates of this position is to build and maintain links between ASE and SSS.

The successful candidate will also teach within ASE and SSS, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We are particularly interested in candidates who would be interested in teaching environmental law and policy, environmental economics and decision-making, and upper-level sustainability courses, as well as overseas field courses.
