Call for Applications: L4E PhD Fellowships (Fall 2026 Cohort)
Leadership for the Ecozoic (L4E) is now calling for applications for Fall 2026 to comprise the seventh cohort of L4E PhD Fellows. This new cohort will become part of the growing L4E community, which currently includes 45 current and former PhD Fellows from both UVM and McGill.
About Leadership for the Ecozoic
The Ecozoic represents a vision for the future grounded in the mutual flourishing of human societies and the broader community of life. L4E works toward that vision by:
Supporting transdisciplinary scholarship that empowers new leaders for the Ecozoic.
Building a research-to-action network.
Engaging in communications and advocacy.
Reimagining teaching and learning.
Rooted in the disciplines of ecological economics at UVM and anthropology at McGill, L4E supports innovative scholarship that bridges academic and community-based knowledge. PhD Fellows earn their degrees through existing doctoral programs at each institution, engaging in a vibrant intellectual community of students, faculty, postdoctoral researchers, visiting scholars, activists, and Indigenous thinkers.
Inspired by Ecozoic inquiry—a vision of mutually enhancing relationships between human societies and the wider community of life—L4E at UVM fosters scholarship that explores economics through the lens of sustainable scale and just distribution over efficient allocation.
