Applications are invited for a 15 Month Post-Doctoral Research Assistant in the School of Management and Business at Aberystwyth University to work on a project funded by NERC’s Biodiversity and Ecosystem Service Sustainability (BESS) programme called ‘Diversity of upland rivers for ecosystem service sustainability’ (DURESS). This is a major project involving six institutions, led by Cardiff University. The successful candidate will work with Professor Mike Christie (Aberystwyth University) to deliver the ‘Valuation’ work package that aims to evaluate the economic benefits / costs associated with changes to provisioning, regulating, and cultural services in UK upland rivers. In addition, the candidate will also be expected to work with the other natural science and policy research being done as part of this project where appropriate.
Candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent) in environmental and ecological economics or related subjects, and have experience in publishing research in peer-reviewed journals. Experience in non-market valuation methods and ecosystem service assessments, social science fieldwork and working in interdisciplinary teams is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will be expected to commence on the 1st September 2013 (or as soon as possible thereafter).
