Professorship in Geography of Mobility


The Faculty of Geosciences and Environment at the University of Lausanne opens three new professorships at its Institute of Geography and Sustainability (IGS). One of the positions is in Geography of Mobility with a focus on sustainable forms of mobility, to strengthen the expertise of the institute in urban studies. We seek applicants specialized in relations between spatial mobility and social transformations, who work in one or more of the following fields: theories of mobile practices and implications for land use; technoscape; combined use of multiple modes of transport; urban planning, mobility and urban quality of life; appropriate forms of mobility, walkability and public health; sustainable forms of mobility, energy issues and land-use policy.

The successful candidate will teach human and urban geography, as well as geography of mobility at the undergraduate, graduate and PhD levels. She/he is expected to build up and lead a vigorous, internationally recognized research program attracting external funding.

Depending on experience, the appointment is expected at the rank of full professor or at the rank of tenure-track assistant professor with the possibility of full professor status within 5-6 years.   • reprints of the five most significant publications
